Lawyers for Peace - The Kovacs Perspective

We have a crazy show on The Kovacs Perspective lined up for you this week on Wednesday, March 13th, at 9 PM Eastern. +Steve Kovacs will be talking to a couple of very special guests! We have two, yes two, lawyers working for peace and goodwill toward humanity. Sounds crazy, right? Most would think lawyers live for conflict, but somehow we have managed to find not just one, but two, who are looking to make the world as conflict-free as possible.

Guest number one on the show will be +Douglas Noll. He's a former trial lawyer who knows a thing or two about fighting battles in a courtroom, but he says he's found a better way. He became a professional mediator when he determined that the US has a terrible track record for conflict resolution - something that is only becoming more obvious with recent developments in the current political climate.

In response to his conclusions Doug Noll wrote the award-winning book, Elusive Peace: How Modern Diplomatic Strategies Could Better Resolve World Conflicts. He teaches attorneys how to negotiate for effective solutions without costly trials and adversarial tactics. He's the host of The Doug Noll Show on WS Radio, and was given the CLAY award for the work done by his Prison of Peace organization. He talks about solutions to conflicts facing the Unites States today, including some major hot-buttons such as gun control and religion.

Our second guest is international lawyer and peace activist Dr. Frank Romano, controversial author of Love and Terror in the Middle East, which is in its third edition. He's a tenured professor at the University of Paris who leads inter-faith activities between Israelis and Palestinians. He's paid a price for his efforts, including the murder of two of his activist friends in the West Bank and in Jerusalem.

Dr. Romano is a member of the California and Marseille Bars who is still doing what he can to find peace between two conflicted nations. The third edition of his book includes a new chapter titled, "Return to the Killing Fields" which recounts the aftermath of the murder of Juliano Mer-Khamis, peace activist, in the Jenin Refugee Camp and Dr. Romano's return to uncover the truth regarding his friend's murder.

You really are not going to want to miss this. Domestic politics, international politics, heroic activism, murder, gun control, religious debate, you name it. This episode has everything we're all fighting about, and these gentlemen seem to have a few answers for us regarding how to deal with these conflicts. There's a better way. There has to be. Tune in and watch to find out!

  1. I love the idea of lawyers working for world peace, but I think that we also need to hand out free weed at the United Nations.

    1. If we did, maybe The Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs could be ratified so that cannabis is no longer banned for sale and cultivation. There have been agreements since then, but that was the name of the original one. This is why it can't be legalized in Canada or the US, by the way. An agreement has been reached through the UN that involved quite a large number of countries. In order to legalize it here, we would have to withdraw from the agreements currently in place. The agreements don't cover personal use, or medical use, but without being able to grow it or sell it, how would anyone get it?

Most people think it's actually under the control of our government, but it really isn't. The sad thing is, no one has EVER died from smoking marijuana. There hasn't been a single, medically documented case of this ever happening. Compare that to cigarettes, alcohol or prescription drugs.
